I already have my new bike for next year. I ordered one of the new 2002 Trek 5900 from my LBS. I went with Dura Ace, Ksyrium wheels, and Flite saddle. I love it. Best riding bike I own or have owned. I have not built up a bike for a number of years. Work, kids, and riding does not leave much time for anything else.

As far as how Shimano holds up, my old bike still has it's original Ultegra group and after 41,243 actual road miles, it still works. I also use this bike on my trainer and did not count those miles. The right shifter is starting to stick on me in cold weather. The old bike will be my winter trainer and beater bike.

When I say original, I am only talking about the shifters and chainrings. The chain has been replaced 3 times and the cogset at least twice. I never replaced the cogset as a whole. One or two at a time as needed.
